Feb. 20th Spring is in the air

Welcome back to the second half of the Spring term. This academic year is flying by. We hope that this term’s themes of ‘Lifecycles’ in Science and ‘Promises’ in Literacy; an added insight to child evacuees in History and ‘Colour Chaos’ in Art, is going to freshen the academic taste buds and thinking cells of our KS1 children over the next 6 weeks. Please take a look at our topic web, a new vibrant design, in line with our ‘Art’ theme 🙂

Fabulous Fairytale Fun

goldilocks in a dilemma

Once upon a time there were two amazing classes who were on an incredible fairy-tale journey.  This past week or so Ahlbeg and Dahl classes have stopped off to meet particular characters on their way. They weren’t impressed with how Goldilocks behaved. In fact they were quite horrified that she went into the Bear’s cottage without knocking and, in their words, trashed the place.  To help her see the error of her ways both classes decided that a letter of apology needed to be sent to the Bears on her behalf. So, the children busied themselves creating letters as if they were Goldilocks. They also created WANTED posters after Goldilocks ran from the cottage and disappeared into the depths of the forest. Before continuing on their journey they sequenced some of the events within the story. They have been identifying the Bears’ reactions, when they returned to the cottage ,after their walk, in speech bubbles.

Hey Ho! Hey Ho! It’s back to work we go!

Spectacular Spots!

Thank you to all the children who made such a fantastic effort dressing up for our Pudsey Bear, Children In Need, Spotty Day. Everyone looked amazing. Classes 1 and 2 have worked hard this week, continuing the theme of the Three Bears and using describing words in their writing. There has been porridge making and tasting which will continue into next week as we extend their writing about the Three Bears.

Time is Flying! Autumn 2

What a great half term lies ahead! The festive season will be upon us before we know it. Meanwhile Halloween and Bonfire Night are here! Last half term saw the children immersed in cross curricular activities around their world and their senses. This term we will be exploring stories of Long Ago, fictional and factual. More new stories will be discovered and further cross curricular work will be investigated with Class 1. We aim to end the term with a Key Stage 1 Christmas play. Watch this space …….
